Joanna Cole is a landscape painter living and working in Sydney. She grew up on a cattle farm in South Australia and evokes in her works a sense of the vitality of the land. Using colour, identifiable shapes and textural brushmarks Cole develops paintings from road trip sketches and plein air paintings made in rural and regional Australia: Hill End, The Murray River, Clare Valley in South Australia and Broken Hill, Dandenong and recently the urban nature around Sydney. Cole was a finalist in the NSW Parliament en plein air painting art prize in 2018 and is currently in based at The Nest Creative Studios.
