Some times opportunities come that are so extraordinary I refer to them for months, years to come. That’s what Yellow Box with the #moversandshapers is for me. I had a clear plan of my objectives for the 4 day stay on the property, situated between Bathurst and Hill End. I was to paint en plein air, oil on two stretched canvas 100x100cm (and to fill a sketch book).
With a dozen or so accomplished landscape painters for company, I was amid a wealth of experience. The wind blew, and the sun beat down, it rained, and the conversations were vigorous. The canvases and the kit were cumbersome. It was hilly. I persevered with my plan with dogged determination, and gleaned some valuable tips from my cohorts.
Two works resulting from this experience were exhibited at Flux at Gaffa Gallery in June. Another four were shown with the Movers and Shapers – Women in the Land at Hazelhurst Art Centre in September. See the blog posts on those exhibitions for details.
